Netherlands: Stinging caterpillars are growing everywhere.

About a millions of processionary caterpillars have recently invaded several places in the Netherlands. Schools are closed as well as public places like some park with ribbons " Processionary Danger ".

At the beginning of this summer, the caterpillars multiply three times more because of the strong hot weather. That event just happened in Egchel (Netherlands), which triggered high-level health alerts.

Processionary caterpillars cause severe irritation, pimples that lead to eruptions and even asthma attacks if you get bitten or come too close to it.

This is due to the oaks that caterpillars create which produce stinging substances. These oaks help them to reproduce before caterpillars turning into butterfly.

To get rid of it, there is only one way. They have to be eradicated and for this reason the local authorities used precaution such as insecticides, blowpipe and even industrial vacuum cleaner.
