• Age and Grades: Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old and have achieved at least the equivalent of a 2.0 average in the German grading system.

Available Fields of Study:

However, the chosen program should ideally align with the applicant’s proposed social project and contribute to solving challenges in their home country.

Universities of Choice:

The SBW Berlin Scholarship does not assign scholars to specific universities. Instead, applicants must independently apply to a state-recognized university or university of applied sciences located in Berlin or Potsdam, Germany. Applicants are responsible for securing admission (or at least proof of application) to their chosen institution. The scholarship will then support their studies at that university if selected.

Additional Information:

• Extension: The scholarship duration can extend up to 48 months, depending on the chosen field of study and program length.
• Termination: The scholarship may be terminated if the recipient postpones or fails three exams, or if they do not meet the objectives of their proposed non-profit project.
• Reporting: After completing their studies, recipients are required to report to SBW Berlin and submit copies of all academic records and certificates obtained during their time in Germany.

2. Proof of Commitment: The first step is to submit proof of social commitment in the form of a recommendation letter from a social institution or non-profit organization. This letter must be sent as a PDF to application@sbw.berlin, by the organization on the applicant's behalf.
3. Form Access: Once the recommendation letter has been carefully reviewed, only shortlisted candidates will receive access to the application form through a link.
4. Submission: Applicants must then complete the form and upload all required supporting documents. Before starting, ensure you have a strong motivation letter (Do yours here).
5. Review: After completing the form, the application can be submitted. The scholarship team will contact applicants within approximately 14 days for further steps.

Application Deadline:

There is no fixed deadline for the SBW Berlin Scholarship in Germany. Applications are accepted throughout the year, allowing international students to apply at any time.
