This CSC Scholarship is a fully funded program that provides coverage for tuition, accommodation, stipend and health insurance Successful applicants will have a chance to study in a variety of programs that are available at the Number One Chinese university Some programs are offered fully in English, while others are offered fully in Chinese or bilingually in Chinese and English. Master's degree programs are generally required to be completed in 2-3 years, and Doctoral degree programs in 3-4 years. For students with a Bachelor's degree who move on directly to pursue a Doctoral degree program, the study period is normally 4-5 years.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A citizen of a country (with a valid passport) other than the People's Republic of China, and be in good health.
  • An academically excellent holder of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master's program.
  • An academically excellent holder of a Master's degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program.

  • Have not been offered other scholarships for prospective graduate study at Tsinghua University
  • Have not been nominated as a CGS candidate to the CSC by other universities or institutions for prospective graduate study
  • Meet other requirements of CGS Type 6 programs, such as applicable programs/majors, nationalities, and so on.

Chinese Government Scholarship provide the recipient with the following benefits:

Type A:

Scholarship covers:

  • Registration fees, accommodation (in a university residence in a shared room with another person)
  • Basic medical insurance and a monthly allowance for personal expenses (between 2,500 and 3,500 Yuan per month, approximately 350 and 500 USD respectively)
Type B:

Scholarship covers the same as the Type A scholarship, except for the monthly allowance for personal expenses.

Type C:

Scholarship is another type of partial scholarship with little benefits.

Type A CSC scholarship is more attractive, therefore it is more competitive due to the high demand. If you can afford living expense, you should apply for Type B or Type C CSC scholarship because it will be easier to obtain.

Application process

To apply for this scholarship program to study in Asia, candidates must follow the application procedure through Tsinghua University as shown below. The application process is done online. No need to mail hard copies of application materials to Tsinghua University

A. Get pre admitted Please hit the apply link below to access the online application platform

B. Complete the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) online application on the CSC website when informed by your school/department

C. The University selects CGS candidates and nominates them to the CSC

D. The CSC makes the final decision

The application deadline is December 15, 2022 for the first round and January 1, 2023 until March 1, 2023 for the second round.
