Eligibility Criteria:

  • International graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants must possess good written and spoken English skills.
  • Positive reports from academic referees are required.
  • A*STAR may apply additional selection criteria in line with current scholarship policies, which are subject to change without notice.
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree at the time of application.
  • Applicants must have an excellent academic record.
  • While there is no specific English proficiency requirement, the university may request an English language certificate.
  • Only those pursuing a PhD in Science and Engineering are eligible for the SINGA award.
  • Applicants applying for PhDs in humanities, arts, and other fields are not eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship benefits:

  • Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of the program.
  • One-time payment allowance of $1,000.
  • A single air allowance of up to $1,500 to cover travel costs to and from Singapore.
  • Monthly stipend of $2,000 that will increase to $2,200 after passing the Qualifying Examination.

Required Documents:

  • An identification card or passport.
  • A recent passport-sized photo in .jpeg or .png format.
  • ALL transcripts must be in English translation.
  • Academic transcripts of bachelor's and/or master's degrees.
  • Bachelor’s certificate/displacement (s) or a certification letter from the university in your application if your certificate/displacement has not yet been awarded.
  • 2 recommendation reports to be completed and submitted online by the referees.

The university may require you to submit satisfactory scores as part of the university admission requirement.

Application Process:

  • Prepare all required documents in advance and submit them online with your application. Do not send hard copies to the SINGA office.
  • Referees must submit reference letters directly to the SINGA portal.
  • The application process will only be completed once all reference letters are submitted.
  • Make sure to apply at least two weeks before the deadline (June 1, 2023 for January 2024 intake).
  • Referees will have seven days to complete and send the reference letters once they receive an email after your application is submitted.
