The OeAD (Österreichischer Austauschdienst GmbH), or translated as Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research, is an Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation in education, science and research.

As main goal, the OeAD advises, promotes and supports international cooperation in education, science and research sector. And this year, OeAD offers a scholarships to conduct study or research in Austria, for the academic year 2021/2022, and this for undergraduate as well as graduate students for a duration of 4 up to 10 months.

What does the scholarship covers?

Travel costs subsidy of max. EUR 1,000.
Monthly grand at a rate of EUR 1050
Tuition fees in Austria, Grant holders might have to hand in a request at the rector’s office of their respective host university and demonstrate that they are studying or doing research in the context of transnational EU, national or university mobility programs.

Be under the age of 35 years.
Applicants must comply with the admission regulations of the respective university
Applicants must come from one of these countries: Afghanistan; Algeria; American Samoa; Angola; Antigua and Barbuda; Argentina; Armenia; Australia; Azerbaijan; Bahamas; Bahrain; Bangladesh; Barbados; Belize; Liberia; Libya; Madagascar; Malawi; Malaysia; United Arab Emirates; United States; Uruguay; Uzbekistan; Vanuatu; Venezuela; Viet Nam; Western Sahara; Yemen; Zambia; Zimbabwe. Applicants are studying a master Programme at a university in one of the listed eligible country. Applicants studying a bachelor’s Programme too can participate if they have completed at least 4 semesters of study by the time of their application.
Applicants must have a very good knowledge of English and or German although, like all other study abroad, it is preferable to master the local language used in the country which is therefore German here.

Applicants must provide:

Two letters of recommendation by university lecturers. No specific form is required; they must contain the letterhead, date and signature of the person recommending the applicant and the stamp of the university / department and must not be older than six months at the time of application.
Confirmation of the home university that the exams passed in Austria will be recognized by the home university (e.g. a learning agreement).
Confirmation of acceptance as an exchange student or free mover from the University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule).
Scan of passport.
Scan of a current Transcript of Records.

When is the deadline?

Application for the research or study Scholarship for the academic year 2021 – 2022 are open until 1 March 2021, everyone that would like to join the program should apply before that due date.
